Top 10 Business Skills You Need Now!
December 2019
Last month I talked about "softer skills" needed to help us navigate times of change and stay highly relevant during the rise of artificial intelligence. I'm going to make this update short because we're in the middle of the holidays and I know you're busy.

Having said that, this is way too important to pass up and I wanted to get it out right away.

I mentioned a couple of things like empathy, and emotional intelligence. Well, I ran across a report by the World Economic Forum that lists the Top Ten Skills Needed in 2020.

Here's the list:

Top 10 Skills Needed in 2020
  1. Complex problem solving
  2. Critical thinking
  3. Creativity
  4. People management
  5. Coordinating with others
  6. Emotional intelligence (new)
  7. Judgment and decision making
  8. Service orientation
  9. Negotiation
  10. Cognitive flexibility (new)
In the five years since the previous report for 2015, creativity moved from last place to number three. Other "soft skills" such as emotional intelligence and cognitive flexibility made the top ten list for the first time in the report's history.

This is a report dealing with career survival-not a feel good piece about the arts. I realized that creativity is needed now more than ever, and here it is in "black and white" from an organization working with economic facts and metric tons of data.

I wanted to share this with you as we begin thinking about 2020 and what we would like to create together in our mutual businesses. Bottom line? We need to be more flexible, creative, and emotionally intelligent than ever before!

Shall we spend time together soon and discuss these things? I am your friend in the mortgage industry and your referrals are the lifeblood of my business. Drop me an email or a call so we can find time to help each other improve our businesses together.
